= Pre-arrival Instructions for Workshop Attendees = . You are expected to bring a laptop to the course; none will be provided. You will need about 1 Gb of RAM and 3 Gb of disc space, and small netbook devices or similar are unlikely to be sufficiently powerful. The metabolic modelling package used in the course, [[http://mudshark.brookes.ac.uk/ScrumPy|ScrumPy]], will be made available to you. The two options for installing !ScrumPy on your computer are to directly install the package on a suitable Linux operating system, or to run a virtual machine under other operating systems such as MacOS or Windows. Instructions are [[Meetings/Nepal2016/ScrumPyInstall|here]]. . . Note that if you are installing a virtual machine, you will need sufficient administrative rights to install software and change settings. On PCs, virtualisation will need to be enabled in the BIOS; it doesn't matter whether you know how to do this, but it must be possible for us to access the BIOS settings to check or change it. If access to the BIOS is controlled by your computer provider, get tham to set virtualisation on and to give you the necessary access rights to the machine. . . Internet access will be required for running the practicals, and we will be using the hotel's wi-fi system for that.
